What is SOCIAL ANXIETY?
Social anxiety, sometimes known as "social phobia," is characterized by an intense fear of social or performance circumstances in which the person anticipates being judged, rejected, or embarrassed.
Prevention
So far there is no known way to prevent social anxiety but measures can be taken to reduce symptoms such as asking for help or seeing a specialist, keeping a record of daily activity to identify the cause of stress, setting priorities to devote time to fun, avoiding alcohol or substance consumption including nicotine and caffeine
Treatment
The most common treatment for anxiety that does not allow people to function in daily life includes psychotherapy to develop activities to gain more confidence in social situations, in some cases it will be necessary to prescribe medication.
