Sinus infection also called sinusitis, is an inflammation of the air cavities in the face. Sinusitis can be caused by allergens, infection, or chemical irritant. Most sinus infections are viral, but some bacteria may cause sinus infections. Sinus infections caused by bacteria (Acute bacterial rhinosinusitis) are usually treated with antibiotics. Antibiotics is recommended for those who are unable to follow-up with a doctor, or those whose symptoms fail to improve, or worsen within seven days.
